From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Port Talbot Railway No. 26 or GWR 813[1] is an 0-6-0 saddle tank steam locomotive built by Hudswell Clarke in 1900 for the Port Talbot Railway and Docks Company.

After the Railways Act of 1921, No. 26 passed into Great Western Railway ownership and became GWR 813. By 1933, the GWR had begun withdrawing a lot of locomotives inherited from Welsh railway companies, with GWR 813 being withdrawn in the early 1930s.

GWR 813

Preservation[edit]

By 1966 was bought from NCB by the GWR 813 Preservation Fund and moved to the Severn Valley Railway in 1967. GWR 813 was finally put into full service on the SVR in 2000 and was withdrawn from service in 2009 for an overhaul. Since its latest overhaul was completed(2016), GWR 813 has visited multiple heritage railways. GWR 813 is the sole-surviving Port Talbot Railway locomotive. [2]
