Preeti Vyas is an Indian entrepreneur, businesswoman, designer, artist and teacher. She is the founder and chairwoman of Vyas Giannetti Creative.[1][2] and serves on the advisory councils of ISDI Parsons School of Design, MIT School of Design and on the governing council of NID, Vijayawada. She has received several honours for her contributions to art, design and communication. A member of the Indian Design Council, she also helps in formulating important design policies for India.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Preeti Vyas was born and raised in Mumbai. She went on to study and graduate from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, where she specialized in Graphic Design and Visual communication.[3]

Early Career[edit]

After college, she travelled through Boston and West Africa, selling jewellery and clothes at flea markets, painting and teaching in schools and also playing music in Cambridge, USA[4]

She then embarked on a dual career path, working in advertising as well as on specialized design projects. She soon became the creative director of Contract and Enterprise in Mumbai, India. And later moved on to become the Executive Creative Director of Trikaya Grey.[5]

As an artist, Preeti also paints and has worked on films like Umrao Jaan (1981)[6] and Holi (1984)[7]

In 1997, Preeti Vyas founded Vyas Giannetti Creative, one of India's top Integrated Design and Communication Agencies.[8]

At VGC, Preeti has lead some high-profile projects and initiatives including the rebranding and brand refreshment of Aditya Birla Group through the years, the strategic branding of India's largest smart city, Dholera Industrial City and more.[9]

In 2010, she launched Designomics – a knowledge and awards platform promoting the use of design by businesses effectively.[10] She also curated and presented a show called Designomics on Bloomberg, interviewing design savvy captains of conglomerates including Kishore Biyani, Anand Mahindra, Kumar Mangalam Birla and more, speaking to them about the role that design plays in their businesses.[11]

Awards, Accolades and Achievements[edit]

Preeti has been invited to be on the jury for the Cannes Festival twice, the New York Festivals, D&AD, Sri Lanka's first International creative awards[12] and also invited to be a part of the executive jury for the Gerety Awards in 2019. She has represented India, showcasing Indian Creativity in Advertising by Semana Internacionale Da Criação Publicitária in São Paulo, Brazil.[13]

Preeti was recognized as one of the 50 most influential women by Verve magazine and ranked amongst the 50 most influential women in media, marketing and advertising by Impact Magazine. She was also ranked as one of the top creative minds by The Economic Times, named one of the 25 most powerful women in Indian business by Business Today[14] and ‘Creative Professional of the Year’ at the Indira Awards for Marketing Excellence.

Preeti has been a columnist on Design for Bombay Times and Impact. Cartier has also profiled her as a woman of style and substance. She is an active member of the India Design Council, has been an Executive Committee member of the National Design Business Incubator at NID, and on the Communications Management Panel of MICA, one of India's leading advertising and brand communication institutes. She often speaks at forums such as Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Branding or Indian Women's Achievement topics.[15]
