From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Pura Vida Spirits Company, LLC, formerly Pura Vida Tequila Company, LLC,[1] is a producer and owner of multiple Mexican spirits, including Pura Vida Tequila and Naranja Orange Liqueur.[2] Their line of tequila is triple distilled and made from blue agave, and it’s available in four expressions: Silver, Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo.[3]

The company’s US headquarters are based in Houston, Texas.[1]

Founder[edit]

American businessman Stewart Skloss founded the Pura Vida Tequila Company, LLC, in October 2009[4] after business partner John Paul DeJoria, cofounder of both the Paul Mitchell hair product line and Patrón Spirits Company,[5] helped convince Skloss to create his own tequila brand.[4]

In June 2013, the company officially changed its name to Pura Vida Spirits Company, LLC.[1] Skloss currently serves as the company’s Chairman and Founder.[6]

Billy Gibbons, guitarist and lead vocalist of ZZ Top, is one of many investors in the spirits company.[7][8]

Production[edit]

Water for Pura Vida Tequila is sourced from the mountains of Mazamitla in Southern Jalisco and put through a five-stage purification process.[9][4] There are no additives in the Pura Vida tequila recipe or caramel for coloring.[4][9]

Tequila expressions[edit]

Pura Vida currently distributes four versions of their triple-distilled blue agave tequila: Silver, Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo.[3]

Pura Vida products can be purchased in one of three outlets: bars, restaurants, and retail centers.[1]

Naranja sale[edit]

In late 2017, Milestone Brands, a spirits company based in Austin, Texas, purchased the brand rights for Naranja orange liqueur from Skloss and Pura Vida.[2] Milestone Brands and La Madrileña signed a long-term production agreement that stipulated La Madrileña would produce the orange liqueur starting in January 2018.[2] Skloss and Pura Vida maintain a minority position with the Naranja brand.[2]
