ROL Cruise, formerly Reader Offers Ltd, is an independent travel agency specialising in cruises from the United Kingdom.

History[edit]

ROL Cruise was originally established in 1995 as Reader Offers Ltd, a small travel agent based in East Hill, Colchester. By 2005, the company's plan to advertise in local newspapers resulted in an annual turnover of £12 million, prompting the decision to specialise in cruises. Between 2005 and 2010, Reader Offers Ltd's turnover increased to £120 million. The company saw growth during the Great Recession..[1]

In 2016, Reader Offers Ltd rebranded to ROL Cruise. Its new website was updated to adapt for those viewing on smartphones or tablets [2]. Today, the Colchester-based company employs approximately 130 staff members [3] and its current offices are in Lexden, Colchester [4]. ROL Cruise introduced a customer-focused training programme, the Academy of Cruise Excellence, in 2017. In May 2018, ROL Cruise promoted Sarah Wikevand to managing director of the company.[5]

Cruise Miles Programme[edit]

In 2010, ROL Cruise Launched its Cruise Miles loyalty programme. The programme is free to join and as of 2015 had more than 250,000 members. Cruise Miles enables members to collect points when booking via ROL Cruise - 1 Cruise Mile is equal to 1 pence in Pound sterling.

Academy of Cruise Excellence[edit]

In 2017, ROL Cruise launched the Academy of Cruise Excellence (ACE) programme for its employees [6]. To celebrate the introduction of its new customer-focused training programme, ROL Cruise hosted an awards ceremony at the company's headquarters in Colchester hosted by TV personality, Paddy McGuinness.

Television Advert[edit]

In January 2018, ROL Cruise launched a national television advert, starring TV presenter and journalist Jennie Bond - a brand ambassador. In the advert, Jennie Bond explains ROL Cruise's Cruise Miles programme.[7]
