Rafael Tuachi (born September 12, 1988) is a Mexican financier and academic, currently serving as Family Officer and as finance Professor at Tec de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe [1] and Ibero CDMX [2].

Early years[edit]

Rafael is firstborn to a jewish family of arabic descent in Mexico City, and raised as such by his parents, both private-practice dentists, along with his sister Jessica, an executive at Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados. His family is mapped through 5 generations of ancestry originating from a multitude of geographies (from European to Middle-Eastern, American and Caribbean), and comprising occupations spanning medicine, architecture, finance and textile entrepreneurship.

Academic Career[edit]

An alumnus of ITESM, the institution he attended from age fourteen and through his undergraduate degree, Rafael focused on financial administration and economics with stints into radio broadcasting and minor studies in cinema. During his undergraduate degree he founded the student organization he founded the ITESM CSF chapter of Instituto Mexicano de Ejecutivos de Finanzas, still active as of today with a membership comprising primarily of finance students of the Santa Fe Campus.

Chicago Booth[edit]

Rafael received his Master of Business Administration diploma from University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2017, a study during which he focused in Leadership, participating as a LEAD Facilitator;[1] Finance, under the tutelage of respected professors including Robert W. Vishny and Christian Leuz; and Economics, under the guidance of though leaders as Erik Hurst [3] and Emir Kamenica [4]

Professional career[edit]

Rafael has participated in the Buy side of the financial industry since 2010, from when he was involved in BlackRock, and by advising institutional investment portfolios for proponents in the Mexican financial industry. After one year of working as Consultant for Accenture, Rafael started serving as Family Officer overlooking investment portfolios and structure, insurance coverage structure, fiscal necessities across any jurisdictions as applicable, and long-term wealth planning, as well as other non-financial matters.

Aside, continuing his involvement with ITESM Rafael became a professor in 2018 teaching Personal and Entrepreneurial Finance, transitioning then to Portfolio Theory and Valuation. Rafael the developed a working relationship with Universidad Iberoamericana teaching Corporation Finance from 2022.

Tutoring[edit]

Rafael has developed counseling and tutoring positions throughout his career, often aiding to advance the career or personal development of a variety of people. Notably, Rafael served as IncubatorEDU [5] mentor in 2018, TEDx speaker coach in 2015, Inroads (organization) mentor in 2014, and Wahanowin [6] specialist and counselor in 2008 and 2009.

Personal Life[edit]

Rafael is happily married since 2015 to his wife Stephanie, a publicist. Together they share three children and currently reside in Mexico City. Rafael has been a collector of vintage and modern videogames and consoles for over 15 (as of 2023) years, growing his curated selection to over 250 titles across 6 consoles, and as an additional hobby has been playing the drums for over 20 years.
