Ray Ciancaglini (Professional Boxer)
Ray Ciancagliniis a former American professional boxer and currently an activist for concussion awareness.[[

Career[edit]
Ciancaglini boxed first as an amateur and then professionally from 1966 to 1974.[1]. He was forced to retire after multiple concussions. These head traumas brought on dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Ciancaglini’s story helped call attention to the New York State Senate for the need for concussion awareness. Senator Kemp Hannon, Chairman of the Senate Health Committee, led the passing of the Concussion Management Awareness Act in 2011 [2]
Awards and Recognition[edit]
Ciancaglini won the Golden Glove Heart Award in 1970 [3]. Ciancaglini received the Rochester Boxing Hall of Fame’s Jerry Flynn Courage Award in 2011 and was inducted into the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame in 2012[4]. That year, he also received the Public Policy Award from the Annual Brain Injury Association of New York State.
