Gameplay:[edit]

Online:[edit]

In Online Multiplayer Mode, the player could use their assembled robots to battle against other robots from around the world. (Robots featured in the movie do not appear in this mode.)

Winning Online Multiplayer Matches will earn the player Real Steel Cash. The player could enter their assembled robots into the world of robot boxing and compete for cash, just like in the movie! On the flip side, robots will sustain damage after a tough match. The players key to winning is constantly do repairs and adding new part enhancements to keep their robot on top of its game.

Playing online also earns players “ranking points”. These points are used to determine the leaderboard rankings. There are three leaderboards in Online Mode: Weekly Ranking, Total Ranking, and Friend Ranking.

Assembly Mode:[edit]

The player could customize everything about their robot, strategically selecting which parts to build it with. Assembly Mode is the players “robot dock” where the player could turn their ‘bot into a fearsome machine!

The player could buy parts from the in-game shop to make their robot stronger. Seven exterior areas of your robot (head, body, legs, left arm, right arm, left fist and right fist) could be customized. The robot’s “core” (generator, motherboard, and hydraulic fluid) could also be customized.

Each assembled robot can be equipped with 4 “tech moves” and 4 “taunt actions”. New moves can be bought at the in-game shop. Equipping stronger moves will make the players robots more powerful in the ring.

Damage the players robot would sustain in Single-player Mode had to be repaired. In addition to using Real Steel Cash, “Repair Kits” can also be purchased to do repairs quickly.

New robot parts, tech moves, repair kits and other content can be bought from the in-game shop. There are two areas in the in-game shop: the “Assembly Shop” and “Downloadable Content”. Use in-game cash (Real Steel Cash) to buy items in the Assembly Shop. Use Microsoft Points to purchase downloadable content. Real Steel Cash can also be purchased to buy new robot parts in the Assembly Shop.

Offline Multiplayer:[edit]

In Offline Multiplayer Mode, the player could battle against a friend locally using a single game device. In addition to being able to use their assembled robots, the player could also control the robots from the “Real Steel” movie. Create their own “what if” matches by having their custom robots face off against the robots from the movie.

Single Player:[edit]

In Single-player Mode, the players assembled robots must battle against several different robots, with the ultimate goal of defeating Zeus to become the champion of the WRB. This mode is divided into two leagues, the Underworld and the WRB. Each league is further subdivided into several different ranking levels, with each level being headed by a different robot from the movie. Each time the player defeated a champion, they would be able to fight on the next higher level tier.

As the players robot fights, its head, arms, and other externals will sustain damage. As parts sustain damage, it‘ll get harder and harder to win unless the player goes to Assembly Mode and do repairs every once in a while. The player will also need to constantly revamp their robot with new parts if they want to compete with some of the higher level robots.

Discontinuation:[edit]

The game was discontinued on 2/9/17 for Playstation 3, and was discontinued for Xbox 360 2/17/17. The discontinuation was due to the company’s “expiring license” for the game. Afterwards the game was removed from online stores.
