Rhodes-Kamiros Province Avenue
Rhodes-Kamiros Province Avenue is one of the main arteries on the island of Rhodes, Greece. It connects the city of Rhodes with Kamiros area where ancient Kamiros ruins and Kamiros Skala dock are situated, servicing also in between numerous other settlements, resorts and points of interest. Its a single carriageway for all its length with few traffic lighted intersections and many sideroads and left turns. Traffic burden is high year round but during tourist season skyrockets especially in the stretch between Rhodes city and the airport.
Route[edit]
The avenue is a 43 km road connecting Rhodes City to Kamiros. Its northern end is at Rhodes City from where following a mostly coastal west southwest route connects it with various towns, villages, resorts, the airport as well other points of interest such as Filerimos, Petaloudes, inland Rhodes and Kamiros. Road until the airport passes through the much urbanised areas of Ixia resort and Ialysos and Kremasti towns while for the rest until Kamiros passes through the villages of Paradeisi, Theologos/Tholos, Soroni and Fanes.
The main junctions of the road are (Rhodes City to Kamiros direction):

Future Plans[edit]
At some point widening of the avenue was examined but abandoned due to high cost of land and structure claims as well the heavily urbanised character of areas that the road goes through.
Alternatively, a new expressway connecting Rhodes city to the airport is in plans for some years now. The expressway will start near Rhodes state hospital and will be routed south of Ialysos and Kremasti towns ending at Tsairi-Airport National Avenue. A definitive plan as well budgeting or any kind of work at all has not yet happened.
