Richard W. Porter Jr. is a local politician, US Navy veteran, International sailor, entrepreneur and retired social service and health care executive.

Biography

Early life

Spent in Carteret County, NC and at age 14 he began working for local farmers picking tobacco. He graduated from West Carteret High School in 1987. While in High School he developed skills in public speaking and parliamentary procedure. As a senior he co-authored a leadership development program titled “Diamonds Are Forever”. Following High School he briefly attended East Carolina University before Joining the Navy in 1988.
