Rogue Aces is a 2018 horizontal multi-directional rogue-lite shoot'm up developed by infinite state games and published by curve digital for the Nintendo Switch, Microsoft XBox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita

Gameplay Modes:

Campaign:

Normal Campaign:

100 randomly generated missions over a procedurally generated series of islands

Frontline Campaign

The player has 35 islands to navigate however they choose to get to the last island and defeat the Baron. you have two days and twelve hours to finish the game, every time you die the game clock goes down by two hours.

Veteran Campaign

Same as the normal campaign only harder and you can not auto-land

Arcade:

Hot potato:

The player has 9 seconds to find another plane and 'aerial steal' it (ejecting from your plane into an enemies) then the timer starts again. Points given for aerial steals, time outside the plane, infantry killed and average score per plane.

Bomber defence:

The player only controls the bombers guns with a single thumbstick in a bomber which is in the centre of the screen while enemy planes try to shoot it down. You gain experiance points for every enemy killed which upgrades the bombers guns. points given for total kills.

Survival:

Survive as long as possible endlessly dog fighting enemies. points given for total kills, aerial steals, multiplier.

Rogue Ace:

You have no missions or spare planes, your aim is to do as much damage as possible in a fully upgraded plane.

Reception[edit]

Nintendo Insider gave the game a score of 9 out of 10, "Rogue Aces is an excellent little game that works incredibly well however way you play it."[1]. Meanwhile Pocket Gamer gave a score of 5 out of 10 "While the actual combat is appealing, after time the inherent samey-ness ends up asking too much of the player."[2]. Video game aggregator whatoplay gave it an aggregate ranking (playscore) of 7.70 for its PS4 release.[3] It also earned an aggregate critic score of 7.62 based on 14 critic reviews on the Switch[4] and a gamerscore of 8.82 based on 62 user reviews on the PS Vita[5].
