Ronaldo Bastos
Ronaldo Bastos Ribeiro (born 21 January 1948) is a brazilian composer and music producer. Together with Milton Nascimento, Fernando Brant, Márcio Borges and Lô Borges, Bastos was one of the founders of the brazilian musical movement Clube da Esquina, also known as the "Corner's Club". In 1994, he founded the Dubas Musica label, one of the most enduring independent labels in Brazil.
His compositions were recorded by Elis Regina, Nana Caymmi, Milton Nascimento, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, Jussara Silveira, Sarah Vaughan, Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque, Ney Matogrosso, among others, being often rerecorded in spanish and english versions.
His third collaborative album with Ronaldo Bastos Juventude / Slow Motion Bossa Nova was nominated for two Latin Grammys as Best MPB Album and the song “A Voz do Coração” as Best Brazilian Song.[1][circular reference]. Years later, their album Liebe Paradiso was also nominated for a Latin Grammy as Best Audio Engineering.[2][circular reference]
In 2018 his ouvre was celebrated by the São Paulo based band Samuca e A Selva, whom recorded the album "Tudo O Que Move É Sagrado"[3], comprised of covers of Ronaldo's songs. In 2019, Ronaldo received the Music Professionals Award of the respective brazilian association[4], on the merits of his contributions to popular music in Brazil.
