Rover Girls were a British independent garage rock band formed in West London in 1985. The band included bass guitar player Emma Anderson, rhythm guitar player Chris Mowforth and drummer Stuart Watson. Anderson would go on to find success with Lush whilst Mowforth and Watson would form Silverfish.[1]
Miki Berenyi, later to play in Lush, also played one gig as a Rover Girls backing singer.[2]
Retrospective mentions of Rover Girls usually refer to wacky Surfing or Elvis covers but reality was a band who frequently supported My Bloody Valentine playing a set consisting of mainly origin compositions. Influenced primarily by The Cramps, they were courted by the same management as The Primitives, and played at the London Astoria with Gaye Bikers On Acid. Two unreleased studio sessions were completed, including one recorded at the legendary Pathway Studio with Kevin Shields occupying the producer's seat.
