Ryan Claire Baumann (born October 31, 2004) is an American actress. She began her big screen, movie career at the age of 10 starring in the feature film American Warfighter (2018) (2019- U.S. theaters & Netflix) which she started filming in December 2014. Her top-billed role in American Warfighter (2018) led to working side by side with director Michael Bay in a scene with actress Adria Arjona for the movie 6 Underground (2019). 6 Underground (2019) stars Ryan Reynolds, Mélanie Laurent, Adria Arjona, Dave Franco, Ben Hardy, Corey Hawkins, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Payman Maadi and Lior Raz, and is produced by Skydance Media.

Baumann has played leading characters in her films that are beyond the typical, limited "daughter" role: In American Warfighter (2018) she played a childhood soulmate who repeatedly returns in nightmares. In The Adventures of Horse Hogg (2016) she played a misguided 12 year old boy who is kidnapped. American Warfighter (2018) is an action/drama indie film that's all about its big message of Heroism & Sacrifice. It was the subject of the VARIETY article, "Streamers Leading the Charge in Representing the Military Community in Films", by Todd Gilchrist, Nov. 6, 2019. The Adventures of Horse Hogg (2016) is an action/comedy short film that's a parody of 1980s "tough guy" movies. Baumann was credited "above-title" in The Adventures of Horse Hogg (2016), her debut film.

She is a third generation actress. See Background & Ancestry below.

She became a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) in 2005 just before age 1. See Early Career below.

Background & Ancestry

Baumann was born in Los Angeles, California in 2004 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center near downtown Beverly Hills. She is the only child of Eugenie Anne (née Gifford) Baumann, an attorney, and Joseph Edward Baumann, a financial advisor, who married on July 5, 2003 in Brentwood in West Los Angeles. Her mother was born in San Francisco, California. Her father was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Baumann's ancestry is primarily of German, and also Irish, descent from each side of her family. Her American lineage on her mother's side is rooted in Shreveport, Louisiana, and on her father's side is rooted in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Third generation actress: Baumann's grandmother, Dorothea (née Wittekind) Baumann, was a student-actress in the School of Drama at the renowned Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (founded 1867) graduating in 1940. For one performance, the Cincinnati Post newspaper announced in a feature article with a large photo of her, that Miss Dorothea Wittekind would present "The Siege," a one-act play by Colin Clements, and that she recently appeared in the role of Pelleas in a production of "Pelleas and Melisande," by Maurice Maeterlinck (the "Belgian Shakespeare"). The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music was one of the most highly prominent "arts institutions" in the country at that time. Baumann's father, Joe Baumann, played the minor recurring role of Starfleet Crewman "Garvey", a Security and Tactics Officer, on the renowned television series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) for 5 seasons from 1989 - 1994. Filmed at Paramount Studios, Joe appeared as Security Officer "Garvey" in over 40 episodes, acting alongside such veterans as Whoopi Goldberg, James Cromwell, Patrick Stewart, LeVar Burton, Jonathan Frakes, Michael Dorn, Gates McFadden, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirtis, Wil Wheaton, Mark Lenard, Matt Frewer, Amy Pietz, Mark La Mura, and Jonathan Del Arco. Joe also played Security Officer "Garvey" in the movie Star Trek Generations (1994).

Early Life

Baumann grew up in West Los Angeles with her parents. She attended Samuel Goldwyn Foundation Children’s Center for preschool, Westside Neighborhood School through 6th grade, and Windward School through 8th grade. She became an exceptionally good tennis player at a young age, and has continued (since age 7) to compete regularly on the USTA Junior tennis tournament circuit.

Early Career

Baumann's career started very early. She was in her first commercial at 6 months old, cast as an infant boy in an Italian commercial for Mulino Bianco biscuits in 2005. This very first role earned her membership in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) which she joined at 11 months old. She began modeling just before age 5 in 2009, when she was chosen as the "Matteo Girl" for the Matteo children's Bambino clothing line made in downtown Los Angeles (www.MatteoLA.com). She was the sole "face" of their Bambino line from 2010 - 2017. Then later, as a popular child model, she was featured on sidewalk billboards from Manhattan NYC to Santa Monica CA as the "face" of the American Apparel Kids line in 2013. She also appeared in a coveted, full-page, solo shot in the American Apparel 2010-2011 International Wholesale Catalog (American Apparel once had 280+ stores in 20 countries throughout North America, Asia, Europe and Australia). By age 10, she graced the online cover of Institute Magazine (August 30, 2015- and its "Pierrot Theatre" feature spread) wearing an Alexandria Olivia designer dress from their Fall Couture 2015 Collection. Institute Magazine is a high fashion, new media magazine known as "The World's Online Beauty and Fashion Editorial Destination."

Baumann's first significant acting came at age 9 starring with Soni Bringas (star of Fuller House - TV series) in the American Girl national USA/+Canada TV commercial for their "2014 Girl of the Year" doll, Isabelle. She was then featured in the national USA/+Canada TV commercial for the American Girl movie, Isabelle Dances Into the Spotlight (2014).
