Sébastien Cipolla, born January 11, 1979 in Tourcoing, is a French actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He was also a dancer and model.

Early life[edit]

Sébastien Calogero Cipolla, born on January 11, 1979 in Tourcoing in the Nord department in France. After studying numerical control miller and welder at the college Saint-Henri in Mouscron in Belgium, he left the North of France for Montpellier where he began to work for two years as a model and dancer. After that, he left for Paris, then left for a year in Montreal and returned to France to become a real estate agent for 3 years in the south of France.[1].

Life changing in Australia[edit]

In 2009, he moved to Australia to change his life. Between the discovery of Australian life and the practice of surfing on Bondi Beach, he takes English lessons while continuing studies in the marketing and management with the intention of creating his business relations between the France and Australia and to have a visa. Having only a temporary visa and wishing to extend it, he enrolled in an acting school. He finally decided to stop everything to focus on it. It was a real discovery and he knew he wanted to do his job. He spent a year at the Surry Hills Academy of Film, Theater & Television and was hired in 2011 by Sydney-based MCTV, a modeling and acting agency. But the roles of extras are not too evolutive, he then has the ambition to be in front of the camera.

Meeting with Jean-Pierre Jeunet[edit]

He meets the director Jean-Pierre Jeunet during a shoot, which makes him understand the harsh reality of the actor's job and convinces him to become an actor[2].

He went to study in 2012 at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, recognized for having trained actors such as Nicole Kidman, Mel Gibson, Kate Blanchet and Hugh Jackman. He then participated in his first play, Honnor, directed by Jennifer Haggan, he then studied the Sanford Meisner technique at the Actors College of Theater and Television. He performed performances in Sen. O'Riordan's A Manual of trench Warfare and Black Milk[3].

Hollywood and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting[edit]

In 2012, he won his school scholarship and went to the United States to attend one of the most prestigious acting academies, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York, for two years of intensive study. This academy has trained very big actors like among others Robert de Niro, Marlon Brando, Meryl Streep, Mark Ruffalo. His studies completed and his diploma in hand, he plans to apply for a visa to continue his acting business in the United States.

From the Hollywood Girls to the Ch'tis[edit]

Since his arrival, he has made several short films as the lead role. He starred in an episode of the French Hollywood Girls series with Nabilla Benattia and some appearances on the reality show Les Ch'tis during the season Les Ch'tis at Hollywood

From pubs to short films[edit]

He appears in ads for Porsche[4], Call of Duty, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14[5], Soupline[6] or Commonwealth Bank directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet but also in music videos for Katja Glieson and Dell Belt. He made an appearance in the feature film Lost Angel, directed by Stan Harrington. He then plays in plays including the role of Raymond Legendre in Been so long staged by Milton Justice who won the Oscar for Best Producer for the documentary Down and Out in America in 1987, the role of Antiphilus in The comedy of errors after Shakespeare, directed by Bruce Katzman, the role of Rodolpho in View from the bridge, directed by Chris Thornton, the role of Father Donately in Bonnie McNeil's The Marriage of Bette and Boo and Horace's role in Tim Mcneil's The day i stood still.

First steps in the cinema[edit]

He plays in his first film in 2014 in Stan Harrington's Lost Angels with David Marciano from the series Due South, among others.

Frenchtis Productions[edit]

In early 2015, he created the association Frenchtis Productions, to produce and realize audiovisual projects in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. His goal, to highlight the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and his ambition to make a feature film that would bridge between his region of origin and his current life in the United States, Tourcoing to the United States[7].

He writes the story and produces a short film that will be titled "Things Happen"[8]. This will be his first production made in part with Frenchtis Productions. Sebastien Cipolla then continues his merry way in Hollywood[9].

First reward[edit]

In 2015, he was nominated and won the Best Actor for Things Happen Award at the San Diego International Short Film Festival for which he plays the role of actor, screenwriter and producer[10]. The soundtrack was composed from scratch by a real orchestra. He managed to finance this project thanks to the 68 people who supported him via the Digogo crowdfunding site[11]. He plays in the short film Match.con, awarded at the ISF Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2016. In 2016, he begins the pre-production of Marilyn: The Last Investigation with Samy Naceri and Erin Gavin among others[12] · [13]. He plays the role of Michael Selsman, Carol Lynley's husband.

Meeting with Melissa Mars[edit]

He meets the frenche actress and singer Melissa Mars with whom he shares many projects such as the short film Dinner directed by Yi Zhang. With Melissa Mars he works on the photo shoot "Beyond the stage" where he is assistant to the photographer Emmanuelle Choussy[14] · [15]. The session is being held at the Globe Theater in Los Angeles for Elegant Magazine which is coming out in April 2018. At the 88th Academy Awards, he is invited with Melissa Mars, at the reception given in honor of the French nominees. In 2016, he is assistant director at Colcoa French Film Festival, a French film festival held annually in Hollywood in April, at the Directors Guild of[16].

First steps in Cannes Film Festival[edit]

He participates in the Cannes Film Festival 2017 to present the trailer of the film "So, You Want to Be a Gangster?" By Alex Kahuam in which he participates. He climbs the steps with Reunionese singer Stéphanie Thazard[17].

He continues to shoot many French TV commercials, such as the SNCF campaign with Kevin Costner and Camille Lou[18].

He participated in the short film "Gabriel" by Mariana Flores, selected at the Cannes Film Festival 2018, in the category Experimental[19]
