Overview[edit]

S4Architecture (Space4 Architecture, S4Arch, S4A) is a New York based Architectural firm with focus on high end residential, custom retail and hospitality projects.[1][2][3]

History[edit]

Space 4 Architecture was founded in 1999 by Michele Busiri-Vici in New York’s Flatiron District. Clementina Ruggieri joined S4A in 2013 as joint Principal architect.[4]

Biography[edit]

Michele Busiri-Vici - International Associate AIA

Principal and Founding Partner Michele Busiri-Vici holds a Master of Architecture from La Sapienza University in Rome. Before he founded Space4Architecture in 1999 he worked for several years as Design Architect at Carrano Wickenburg Architects. Together with partner Clementina Ruggieri, Michele Busiri-Vici is lead designer of all S4A’s projects. He is an International Associate member of the AIA. He is also the grandson of famed Italian architect, of the same name, Michele Busiri-Vici. The Busiri Vici family has been involved in architecturally significant projects since the 17th century[5]

Clementina Ruggieri - WBE

Clementina Ruggieri holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture at The Bartlett, London as well as a Masters Degree from Columbia University, New York. Prior to joining S4A in 2013 she worked at Lazzarini-Pickering Architects in Rome and subsequently founded and lead for three years BArC Studio in Brooklyn, NY. She is a member of the WBE and is Passive House Certified. Ruggieri is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University.[6]

Projects[edit]

S4Architecture has worked on several published (single family) residential projects such as The White Snake Town House[7], Tribeca Penthouse[8], Upper East Side Townhouse 1[9] Upper East Side Townhouse 2[10] and 1866 SoHo Loft.[11] They have also worked on large scale developments like the Residential Towers[12]planned for construction in lower Manhattan with a completion schedule of 2021. S4A are also involved in hospitality projects such as The Celino Hotel, Miami Beach, FL[13]. Retail projects have featured names such as Devi Kroell[2] and cultural projects have included the Venice Biennale Room 215 (Venice, Italy)[14], ChengDu Book Store (ChengDu, China - Competition)[15], New School Losbates, (Prague, Czech Republic - Competition)[16], Kip Island Auditorium, (Riga, Latvia - Competition)[17][18]
