SA SA BASSAC was a non-profit exhibition and performance space located in Phnom Penh dedicated to supporting interdisciplinary, performative and contemporary art practices.

History[edit]

SA SA BASSAC was a contemporary art gallery in Cambodia co-founded in 2011 by Stiev Selapak artist collective and curator Erin Gleeson.[1] The gallery is known for placing Cambodian artists in private and museum collections, international biennales, residencies, and institutional exhibitions around the world. SA SA BASSAC received international acclaim from publications such as Frieze[2] and Artforum[3] and placed works in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Singapore Art Museum, Queenland Art Gallery, and Johnson Museum of Art amongst others. SA SA BASSAC often partnered with local, regional and international institutions, residencies, museums, artfairs and galleries creating networks and educational opportunities for both artists and the local audience.[4] In 2018, SA SA BASSAC permanently ceased operations.[5]
