Sakuraco is a monthly subscription box service that offers traditionally Japanese wagashi, snacks, tea and homegoods from family-owned Japanese snack makers.[1][2]

Sakuraco also works with local Japanese governments to contribute towards regional revitalization of less well known prefectures by providing overseas sales channels for local manufacturers.[3][4]

Each curated box features 20 Japanese snacks, including Japanese tea (matcha, hojicha & seasonal), Japanese cakes, mochi, manju & yokan, traditional Japanese sweets and seasonal treats (sakura, momiji, yuzu, melon, etc.), senbei, and Japanese home goods.[5]

History[edit]

"Sakuraco" is a service that was started after a questionnaire survey of about 2 million registrants said, "I want traditional Japanese products, not just sweets."[6]

Production began in February 2021.[7]

During this time, various works such as a short documentary series featuring partners of Sakuraco,[8] and a prefectural partnership with the Kanagawa prefrectural government[9] have occurred.
