Dr. Salmabanu Ismailbhai Luhar (born 17 August 1986) is a world record holder.[2], Indian woman eco-friendly material scientist cum inventor on a patent[3], Associate Professional Engineer[4], Chartered Engineer (CEng)[5], Approved Valuer[6], and author with prominence in the STEM field (civil-structural engineering) of both conventional and Geopolymer concrete technology and building material science[1], working as a postdoctoral researcher in Frederick research centre, Frederick University[1], Cyprus. Dr. Luhar’s biography has been included in Marquis who’s who[7], United States. She focuses on advanced researches on lower carbon and low operational energy building materials for concrete technology. She is bestowed with the prestigious American award of Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award 2018[8], United States for her hard work and dedication to her profession. What’s more, she was recognized with Best Academic Researcher Award by the Association of Scientists Developers and Faculties, London, United Kingdom[9]. The journey of progress remained persistent since she set not only an Indian[10] but also Asian[11]and even a world record[2],[12][13],[14]for publications and achievements at a young age by woman in STEM field of civil engineering discipline.

Indian patent with file number -201811028519 A[3], publication date 17-08-2018; international classification-C04B7/00, invention title, “Fly Ash based Geopolymer concrete incorporating rubber tire fibres as partial replacement of natural Sand thereof useful for construction and infrastructure industries”; which is bestowed with “Diploma of Gold Medal” for Patent Invention, EUROINVENT 2019, Romania, Europe[15].

Dr. Luhar initiated her journey by earning her first diploma subsequent to school matriculation from Government Polytechnic, Dahod, India in civil engineering. After that, she has been graduated obtaining degrees of Bachelor of Technology, B.Tech (Hons.) in civil engineering, 2011 and Masters in Computer-aided Structural analysis and Design (CASAD), 2013 both from Nirma University, Ahmedabad. Subsequently, she shifted to Rajasthan - the domicile state of her forefathers, to obtained a PhD degree from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, India. Dr.Luhar has worked as Postdoctoral researcher, National Taipei University of Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Luhar has been awarded honorary D.Litt.- Doctor of Letters from two universities, namely, University of Asia, North Korea, having its regional research center at Kathmandu, Nepal. and the International Economics University for SAARC Countries, Republic of Maldives.

Principal Investigator[edit]

Dr.Luhar has been granted a sanction from Department of Science and Technology (India), Ministry of Science and Technology (India), Government of India for a Research Project as Principal Investigator (PI). The referred project titled "Durability studies of Geopolymer concrete containing waste rubber fibres as partial replacement of Sand", worth INR. 22.11 Lacs (about € 26706.14) was awarded under Woman Scientist-A Scheme, in 2015 for a new-generation low-carbon innovative geopolymer concrete incorporating rubber tyre fibres as artificial fine aggregate replacing natural sand whereby it responded to the urgent need of not only to mitigate the carbon footprint and reduce intensive energy consumption of the conventional construction sector but also to conserve natural restricted resources along with a systematic solution for disposal of waste rubber tyres and fly ash too. Awarded "Diploma of Silver Medal" for “Research Project of Government of India, as “PI (Principal Investigator)”, by EUROINVENT 2019, Romania, EUROPE[16].
