Salman Jaberi (Born March 17, 1992) is a Bahraini creative multidisciplinary multimedia specialist[1], founder of Rave Scout Cookies[2] and a community-builder in the queer electronic music scene across the North American region.[3] Salman is also a harm reduction advocate in affiliation with DanceSafe National and The Trevor Project.[4] Salman was an active figure in the London nightlife scene in 2009 and onwards. Jaberi was regularly sighted at The Arts Club, Annabel's and LUXX located in Mayfair whilst also bustling in East London's underground rave scene.[5]

Early Life and education[edit]

The Jaberi family are prominent magnates in the oilfield, construction and real estate development[6] industry in the Gulf region of the Middle East[7]. Salman is the youngest of his six siblings and was enrolled in primary school at an early age, in which lead him to graduate from high school at the uncommon age of sixteen. Jaberi relocated to London and attended American Intercontinental University (later absorbed by Regent's University London due to a closed audit conducted by the QAA in 2013) and graduated with a B.S. degree in Psychology in 2012.[8] After graduating in 2012, Salman served as an executive assistant to a prominent member of a royal family until 2015[1]. Subsequently, Jaberi decided to further his education and enrolled in Emerson College to major in Marketing Communications and graduated with a B.S. degree in the Spring of 2019[9].

In 2015, Jaberi moved to the United States and got professionally involved in the queer underground electronic music scene and industry.[10]

Salman Jaberi is the founder of Rave Scout Cookies[11] and a former partner and resident experiential producer and media director[12] of Visceral Platform[13]. Rave Scout Cookies is a multimedia platform devoted to underrepresented and undiscovered marginalized collectives, talents and ravers in the underground electronic music industry.[14] Jaberi recently launched an extension and marketplace to Rave Scout Cookies, The Cookie Mart.[15]

"RSC's five media outlets are a newsletter, podcast series, digital events, check-in app, and a third-party booking agency and networking app," Jaberi told RA. "The RSC bi-monthly newsletter will illuminate a variety of topics such as POC/LGBTQ+ rave heritage and genealogy, drug harm reduction [and also feature] the vulnerable intellection behind every talent, raver, and platform making notable contributions to their scenes and communities."[16]

"... One very critical and overlooked crucial aspect that we seem to dismiss in this volatile digital age is not actually listening to each other. Marginalized people need to be heard, not interrupted. In order for us humans to develop individually or collectively, we need to address and recognize the different challenges that some face more than others." Jaberi told Staying Vibrant. "Marginalized communities need to voice their opinions and concerns that affect their lives without feeling threatened. It is unfortunate that we live in a society where there have to be self-awareness platforms and collectives such as Papi Juice, Visceral, Discwoman, ALKHEMY BK, Por Detroit, specifically dedicated to empowering and giving voice to the those who have been silenced and to remind the world that before the neo-liberal heterosexual EDM takeover, dance music came to fruition from marginalized communities."[10]

On February 2020, DanceSafe National, a US-based non-profit harm reduction organization, announced Jaberi as its official partner and appointed Jaberi as its community cross-bridge pillar to underground electronic music subgroups and communities in North America.[4]

Salman has appeared in interviews and live-casted a drug harm reduction PSA on WKDU 91.7FM[17] [18]Radio and has been featured in multiple publication outlets such as Resident Advisor[19], Love Injection[20], Staying Vibrant[21], Parkett Channel Italia[22], in addition to co-hosting various simulcasts and shows with prominent artists such as Andrea Paz[23], Justin Cudmore[24], Roi Perez[25] and The Carry Nation[26].
