Samuel Asare Akuamoah (born 20 June 1965)[2] is the Ghanaian journalist and public official who is currently serving as the Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education[3] and Governing Council Member of the African Peer Review Mechanism in Ghana.[4] He is a Ghanaian Journalist by profession who worked at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and Ghana News Agency briefly before joining the National Commission for Civic Education.[5] Samuel Akuamoah is a non partisan official.[6]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Samuel Asare Akuamoah received his GCE 'O' level certificate from the Abetifi Presbyterian Senior High School and his GCE 'A' level certificate from the Labone Senior High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts degree in African Studies from the University of Ghana.[7] He is the sixth of his mother's seven children. He attended the University of Ghana for his BA in Political Science and Ma in African Studies.

Career[edit]

Samuel Asare Akuamoah worked briefly as media practitioner before joining the National Commission for Civic Education in 1994. He began rising through the ranks of the commission in 2009 when he was appointed as the Programmes Director of the Commission. He was spotted by the then President John Mahama as a result of his hardwork and was appointed as Deputy Chairman in 2015. He was also appointed as one of the APRM Governing Council Member in 2016.[4]

Samuel Asare Akuamoah was nominated as Chairman of the NCCE in 2016 but unfortunately lost the bid to Madam Josephine Nkrumah the then Deputy Chairman, Finance and Administration.
