Naqi Ali Saqib Naqvi known as Syed Saqib Akbar (Urdu: سید ثاقب اکبر نقوی) (born November 11, 1952) is a Pakistani Muslim theologian, Quran scholar, Islamic modernist and Political leader He is also the founder of Albasirah Trust. He is a companion of Islamic scholar Allama Arif Hussain hussaini Shaheed. Syed Saqib Akbar is Deputy Secretary general of MYC (Urdu: ملی یکجہتی کونسل پاکستان).
Early life[edit]
Syed Saqib akbar was born on 11 November 1952 to a Naqvi Sayyid family in a village called Jhugian Johda(near Shahdra) Lahore Punjab, Pakistan. His father, Syed Akbar Ali Shah, was a government servant and a Sufi saint. Saqib Akbar’s Grandfather Peer Syed Imam Ali Shah is a well know Sufi saint of Jhugian Johda. Saqib and his 7 brothers grew up in a Sufi household and 5 of them are religious scholars. His early education included a modern path (matriculating) He graduated from UET Lahore in City and regional planning. Saqib Akbar left for Iran to get religious education. In 1995 he returned from Iran and started a research institute with fellow scholars. In 2005 Saqib akbar registered a religious trust with name of Albasirah Trust, Ukhuwat research academy became part of this Trust.
Inter-Faith Harmony[edit]
Saqib Akbar is firm believer of Inter-Faith harmony. Belief in one God enables a human being to treat all humans as brothers and sisters i.e. fellow beings with equal rights and respect. Quran says in Sura e Baqra verse no 213:
''Mankind were one community, and Allah sent (unto them) prophets as bearers of good tidings and as warners, and revealed therewith the Scripture with the truth that it might judge between mankind concerning that wherein they differed. And only those unto whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it, after clear proofs had come unto them, through hatred one of another. And Allah by His Will guided those who believe unto the truth of that concerning which they differed. Allah guideth whom He will unto a straight path.''
in another verse it says:
''O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful of your duty toward Allah in Whom ye claim (your rights) of one another, and toward the wombs (that bare you). Lo! Allah hath been a watcher over you.''
He has spent his life working for this noble cause, in this regard he attends various ceremonies and events of various religions i.e. Christmas, Devali etc.
Intra-Faith Harmony[edit]
Intra faith harmony between various sects of Islam is also a religious obligation on every Muslim according to teachings of Islam, as 10th verse of Al-Hujrat says:
“The believers are nothing else than brothers (in Islam). So make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy.”
Saqib Akbar's efforts in this regard can be divided into literary and practical efforts. He has written two books "The Islamic Sect of Pakistan" and "The Unification of Islamic Ummah" and is also working as Deputy Secretary general of MYC (Urdu: ملی یکجہتی کونسل پاکستان). Saqib Akbar started his socio-religious voyage with Allama Syed Safdar Hussain Najfi, He is a companion of Allama Arif Hussain al Hussaini Shaheed, worked with Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi in central cabinet of his organization now known as Islami Tahreek Pakistan......
Syed Saqib Akbar met Qazi Hussain Ahmad in 2011 and played an important role in reorganizing MYC. Syed Saqib Akbar has working relationships with many renowned scholars of Pakistan.He is a flag beerier of Islamic Unity. He has written many books and articles on this topic.
