Sara Amanda Myers is a Birmingham-based cultural activist and writer who in 2014 led a campaign called 'Boycott the human zoo' in response to Brett Bailey's Exibit B art installation 'Exhibit B' at the Barbican..[1] [2] [1]

The campaign gain tremendous support from celebrities such as Akala [3]and Maverick Sabre [4], and the petition itself gained an outstanding 23,000 online signatures with support from with the support of major trade unions, Operation Black Vote, the Organisation of Black Unity, Barack, and the NUS Black Students Campaign among others all calling for the Barbican to cancel the show in light of it being institutionally racist.

The show was eventually cancelled by the Barbican after a protest on the opening night[5]. Whilst Myers claimed the cancellation as a victory, [6], it was not viewed as such by the mainstream press, the preformers and within Art circles.[7] [8] [9] [10].

Myers appeared on Wright Stuff [11]and Newsnight [12] an was interviewed by Art Arica [13] where she discussed the reasoning behind the petition and the protests and why she felt Exhibit B reinforced institutional racism.

To her supporters, Myers not only led a successful campaign for the Black community challenging institutional racism, but she was the founder of a movement. Boycott the Human Zoo, splinter groups went on to protest against Exhibit B in Paris[14], Ireland[15] and Brazil [16] In 2015 Myers, was listed as as a Black women who rocked in 2014, by the Voice Newspaper, for her campaigning achievement, Online[17].
