Senecion, Bishop of Scutari took part in 431 AD in the Council of Ephesus. He was one of the signataries of Cyril's letter to Nestorius, supporting the catholic teaching on the human and divine nature of Christ. His name appears at the end of the acts of the Council of Ephesus, as "Senecion bishop of Codrinae" or "Chodrensis".[1]

In the sixth century the Emperor Justinian placed it under the Primate of Ochrida, but it continued to be the seat of an Archbishop until the Council of Dalmatia in 877 A.D., when it was reduced to a Bishopric.
