Seville Mosque Foundation

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Fundación Mezquita de Sevilla (Seville Mosque Foundation) was established in 2005 as the vehicle through which to construct a Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre in the city of Seville, Spain[1].

After research and previous experiences, it was concluded that a foundation is the best legal tool and means for this project, for it allows continuity of the project and its supervision. The regulation of a foundation in the Spanish legal framework is the closest of that of and Awqaf in the Islamic Law. Meaning, that once the mosque is established is governed by a set of rules that will allow its continuity throughout time.

The Seville Mosque Foundation is registered under the Ministry of Education and Culture with the registration number: CUL/1679/2005, Number 1091.

The Seville Mosque Foundation was founded by the Islamic Community of Spain, an entity registered in the Ministry of Justice since 1979, which has also funded the Granada Mosque Foundation, through which the Great Mosque of Granada was constructed, and the Al Andalus Educational Foundation, which has a project to build the first Islamic school in Spain.

The board of the Seville Mosque Foundation is presided by Ibrahim Hernandez, and the board is completed with five trustees which are key figures within the Muslims of Seville and the Muslim community of Spain.

The main goal and the sole reason of the foundation is the construction of a Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre in the city of Seville and assuring it’s continuity through a Waqf.
