Shadowplay or The Defeated, as it is also known in its USA/Canadian title[4], is a 2020 TV series written by Måns Mårlind and directed him and by Björn Stein. The series is set in 1946, in a post-World War II broken Berlin, as crime thiller[5], during a period of time that saw the city of Berlin occupied by four different military forces (American, British, Russian and French) and devided into sectors. [6]
As people are trying to get by and reconstruct the city, the Berlin Police, working on the American sector, is trying to tackle the serious problems that come the situation, like the brutally and high rape cases inflicted on German women from men belonging to the foreign troups. One police oficer from New York city comes to Berlin to help this Belin police team get organized, while he searches for his own brother; missing since fighting in the war.[7]
The show was actually filmes in Prague in Czech Republic.[8]
