Shane McAdam (born 5 May 1995) is a professional Australian rules football player who plays for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Early life[edit]

Shane McAdam was born in Halls Creek, a small town in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia.

He played 11 games for Claremont Football Club in the WAFL, before returning to his home town in Halls Creek after being overlooked by AFL recruiters. He moved to South Australia in 2017 to play for Scotch Old Collegians Football Club before playing for the Sturt Football Club in the SANFL.[1]

AFL career[edit]

Shane McAdam was traded from Carlton Football Club in the 2018 AFL draft. The trade involved former Adelaide Crows player Mitch McGovern and a future Adelaide Crows draft pick. Shane wears the number 23 on his guernsey, a number previously held by Norm Smith Medalist, Andrew McLeod.

After spending a year since his trade playing in the SANFL, Shane McAdam debuted playing for the Adelaide Crows against the Brisbane Lions in Round 4, 2020.
