Shashruthi Vinayak Nakade is a Para swimmer from India. She is the National champion for in 100m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 100m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle. She is presently being coached by Mr. Prasanta Karmakar, who was the first India para-swimmer to represent India and win a medal at the World Swimming Championships in 2003. She is supported by the GoSports Foundation through the Para Champions Programme
Early life and background[edit]
Born on 02/23/2004 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. She suffers from a congenital movement disorder on her right arm and leg which restricts her movement and has undergone 12 surgeries to correct her condition.
Career[edit]
Shashruthi started swimming in 2013 as advised by her family’s well-wishers as a therapy to her orthopedic handicap. She competes in the S9, SB8, SM9 category.
2015[edit]
she won 3 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal at the National Para-Swimming Championships in Karnataka.
2017[edit]
she won a flurry of medals at the recently conducted Para Nationals in Jaipur with 4 Gold medals.
She has moved to Kolkata to live and train with Mr Prasanta Karmakar, and her living expenses are entirely taken care of by the foundation
