Shayron Paul Tower (born June 26, 1998) is an Afro-Nicaraguan journalist, radio personality and photographer, [1] winner of the ExpoPhoto 2020 Nicaragua, one of the country's most important photography contests. [2]
Early life[edit]
From an early age, Shayron has been involved in environmental and youth movements in his local hometown, Corn Island, where he led actions along with other young people in favor of the development of the Corn Islands and the south Caribbean coast.[3]
He cofounded the Corn Islands Municipal Council for Adolescent and Young People in August 2013 and assumed its presidency in March 2014, [4] where he managed with the support of the local authorities to celebrate the first Corn Island Youth Week in 2014, which congregated all schools and youth organizations of the islands. [5]
In 2020, he participated in the ExpoPhoto photography competition, where he presented his project “The Creoles”, [6] which was based on the creole Afro-descendant group of Nicaragua's Caribbean coast. He was selected by the judges as one of the seven winners of the contest that year.[7]
Education[edit]
His elementary and secondary formation has been in his hometown. After high school, he studied at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Humanities of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, León and at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Hrádec Kralové in the Czech Republic.
