Qutubuzzaman Sheikh Sufi Muhammad Yusuf Sultan Shah Qadiri.[1] also known as Sultan Shah is the sublime star of royal excellence in the contemporary horizon of spiritual guidance. Hazrat Sultan Shah was born and brought up at Thottumukham, Aluva in Eranakulam District of Kerala, India. Born to a well-famed family of Madina Origin, the Holy city of Prophet(s), Hazrat completed his primary education from Madrasas and schools at his own locality. He is born in 1945[2], Marc 26 (Hijri 1365, Ramadan 17) in Aluva, Kerala, India. Parents named him Yusuf. Later he was known as Shaikh Yusuf Sultan Shah[3]. He is the Qutb (axis, pole, pivot) of this time and is blessed with lofty titles of Sultan and Qadeeruallah. He was bestowed with Khilafat and Khirqa by a number of prominent Sufi guides in various Sufi orders. The covenant (Bai’at) and Khilafat of Kalima Thayyiba was given to him by Sheikh Mohammed Badsha Qadiri Qadeeri Yamani(R). Sheikh Yusuf Sultan is an ascetic who went on to seek the springs of gnosis for more than a decade at his younger years. Sheikh Yusuf Sultan started his spiritual journey at the youthful age of thirteen. Since then he followed the footsteps of many great Sufi masters. He interacted with many scholars and Sufi saints all over the world. He strenuously practiced in the path of spiritual training. He spent around 15 years in fasting and meditation inside the caves of mountain tops and wild forests of Haji Malang, Ajmeer and Bandup and many other places of India. Even the predator animals like lions and tigers bowed in servitude to this great fakir during those ascetic days. His Sufi guide advised Hazrat that if any one wished to meet Sayyiduna Muhammad Rasoolullahi(sa) he should knock at the door of Madinatul Ilm (city of gnosis). Sheikh Yusuf Sultan’s first ambition was to meet the gate of City of Gnosis -Hazrat Ali(R). After a certain period of Riyadah he met with Hazrat Ali(R) and they had a conversation which lasted for a long time. In the talk Hazrat Ali(r) foretold Sheikh Yusuf Sultan about many a things which would happen in the later life of Sheikh Yusuf Sultan and the spiritual positions he would achieve during the forthcoming journey. Then Sheikh Yusuf Sultan practiced another Riyadha to achieve the spring of Gnosis Hazrat Khidr(A) by meditating on the premises of Haji Ali Darga near Mumbai. Once he met with him, Hazrat Khidr(A) called him by his name. Sheikh Yusuf Sultan asked that how could Khidr(A) know his name, to which Hazrath Khidr(A) answered calling him along with names of his father and grandfather. Later at the instruction of his then Guide, Sheikh Yusuf sultan went to the holy presence of Khwaja Mueenudeen Chishty(R) in Ajmer. After seven days of Riyada nearby Ajmeer Shareef, Sheikh Yusuf Sultan met with Khwaja Muneenuddin Chishthy(R). Khwaja Mueenuddin Chishthy(R) advised him to visit Madeena-al-Munawwara. While visiting the Roudha Sherif in Madeena; by the grace and bliss of Almighty, Sheikh Yusuf Sultan met with Sayyidul Murasaleen Rahmathul Alameen Sayyiduna Muhammad Mustafa(S). The Seal of prophets blessed Sheikh Yusuf Sultan with an embrace and passed oceans of gnosis to his heart. Khwaja Mueenuddin Chisthy(R) was present there to witness this high occasion. At the age of twenty-one, Sheikh Yusuf sultan met Qutubl Aqtab Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani(R) in Bagdad Shareef. Hazrath Sheikh Abdul Qadiri Jeelani called him, laying the blessed palm upon his head, with the title ‘Sufi Mohammed Yusuf Sultan’. After this event, he came to be called as ‘Sultan’ by everyone who came to him. Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani(R) admonished Shaikh Yusuf Sultan to continue his journey till renewing the covenant made by every human in the world of spirits(Alam-ul-Arwah). During these years of his ascetic life, Shaikh was assisted with a divine grace of receiving any wealth required for his daily living from unknown sources. During this long span of spiritual journey, Sheikh Yusuf Sultan met and conversed with countless Sufi Scholars and saints, and he was bestowed with khilfath and Khirqa in all prominent Sufi orders like Naqshabandiyya, Rifaeyya, Khidriyya, Chisthiyya, Naqshabndiyya, and Shaduliyya. Towards the end of his ascetic journey Shaikh Yusuf Sultan met Sheikh Muhammad Badsha Qadiri and received the grace of the path of paths (path of Kalima Thayyiba) from him. Sheikh Yusuf Sultan proudly owns the authenticity of customary chain of Sufi guides[4] preceding him which is authoritatively linked to the Prophet(s). Now Hazrath Sultan Shah is sought after by Auliya, Ulama and common people alike. He gives covenant (baiath) for all seekers of the path. Presently he lives in Cochin, Kerala, India. He has thousands of Mureeds and disciples all over the world. He is permanent invitee to the Urs Mubrak of Sheikh Abdul Qadiri Jeelani, Badgad, Iraq[5], Urs Mubrak of Sayed Ibrahim Badshah, Ervadi,[6] Tamil Nadu, India, Urs Mubrak of khwaja Mueenuddin, Ajmeer, India[7] Sheikh Yusuf Sultan proudly owns the authenticity of customary chain of Sufi guides preceding him which is authoritatively linked to the Prophet(s). Now Hazrath Sultan Shah is sought after by Auliya, Ulama and common people alike. He gives covenant (baiath) for all seekers of the path. Presently he lives in Cochin, Kerala, India. Hazrat laid foundation for the centre of his activities named Jeelani Sheriff at Aluva, Kizhakke Desham, near to Cochin, Kerala and established a research there.[8]

Hazrat also established an association by the name Sultaniya Foundation and Jeelani Study Center in order to strengthen and promote his mission of Khilafath. He has established a big mosque at his center, Jeelani Shareef[9], Kizhakke Desham, Aluva. He is running a college of arts and science at his center to improve education and culture in the society.
