Shelby E. L. Pruett (born April 19, 1962) is an American businessman and Founder, Chairman and CEO of Equity Global Management a real estate investment manager. Pruett was also Chairman and CEO of ECM Realty Trust (NYSE: ECMR), and Co-Founder of Equity Capital Management, the holdings of which he sold to Realty Income (NYSE:O) for over $600 million. Mr. Pruett is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Capri EGM, a principal-oriented real estate investment firm, and Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Gryffindor Capital Partners, a venture capital firm.

Pruett is a founding board member of the Harvard Alumni Real Estate Board[1], a past board member of the International Advisory Board of the Harvard Real Estate Academic Initiative[2], a board member of the Real Estate Development Advisory Council of the UVA School of Architecture[3], a member of the Pensions Real Estate Association[4], a board member of the UVA School of Architecture Foundation[5], and an Advisory Board member of REFJ a Reuters publication.

Early life and education[edit]

Pruett was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1962. Pruett’s grandfather, Hub Pruett, was a professional baseball player for the St. Louis Browns, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants, and Boston Braves. Pruett's claim to fame was that he had a knack for getting out Babe Ruth. Pruett attended the University of Virginia (1984) and Harvard University (1988) were he received a Commendation for Academic Excellence.

Awards[edit]

In 2021, CEO Monthly awarded Pruett the "Global CEO Excellence Award".[6]
