Shelley Bivins (born Dec. 7, 1958) an American event producer, radio executive and
talent manager. Most recently known for managing R&B artist, Chris Bivins and
creating the multiethnic girl group, Dorothy Milone.
Career Highlights[edit]
Shelley started her career in the music industry with a summer job at WOOK radio
in the late 1970’s. After college she landed a full time position at Dimensions
Unlimited, Inc. an east coast concert promotions company, founded by William
“Bill” Washington. There she worked on shows and tours for artists including
Prince, Luther Vandross, Jennifer Holiday and DeBarge. One of the
highlights of her career came in early 1980’s when she witnessed/experienced the
beginning of boy group, New Edition’s musical journey.
Shelley went on to work as a promotions director at Howard University’s WHUR
radio. For many years, Shelley also worked on the National Black Family Reunion
Celebration, a brain child of Dr. Dorothy Height, then president of The National
Council of Negro Women. This annual two day cultural event took place on the
National Mall in Washington, DC attracting over 100,000 people per year.
