Sheryar Khan

Sheryar Khan has extensively crafted his knowledge and experience in the sector of immigration specifically the points-based system, asylum, settlement, spouse visas, appeals, reconsiderations and judicial review applications.

To date, Mr Khan has personally appeared for more than 900 appeal hearings at the First and Upper Tribunal and involved in matters in the Court of Appeal and the High Court. He has supervised a number of reported cases, that have shaped the way in which the Immigration Rules are construed including Secretary of State v Pankina & Others [2010], AS (Afghanistan) & Others v Secretary of State [2009] and RG (Automatic deportation – Section 33(2)(a) exception) Nepal [2010].

His most notable case that directly affected approximately 45,000 migrants is the recent case of Ahsan v The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Rev 1) [2017] EWCA Civ 2009 where he instructed and worked closely with Mr Stephen Knafler QC and Rowan Pennington Benton.

Mr Khan has advised a number of UK companies on Tier 2 (Work Permit Compliance) including a multinational company with more than 10,000 employees and a net worth in excess of £ 1 Billion.

He has several reported cases to his credit and his articles on immigration law have been published in various reputable magazines including the Solicitors Journal. He has marshalled for the Honourable Mr Justice Blackburne and the Honourable Mrs Justice Dobbs at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Mr Khan was called to the bar by Lincolns Inn in 2009 after obtaining a double bachelor’s degree in engineering and law; graduating with a 2:1 in both.
