Signal Hill Whisky Launched in 2018, is a brand of Canadian whisky manufactured by Signal Hill Spirits Inc. in Newfoundland, Canada. To celebrate the history of this unique place, Jonathan Hemi, Brian Meret and Kristina Cappellini of Globefill Inc.[1] and Crystal Head Vodka launched the Signal Hill Whisky brand of Canadian whisky in 2014.[2]

Partnering with Master Blender Michael Booth - formerly affiliated with Corby Spirit & Wine Ltd.- along with Rock Spirits[3], the St. John's-based blending and bottling division of the Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation.

History[edit]

Signal Hill is one of Newfoundland and Labrador's most iconic historical landmarks. A rocky outcrop at the mouth of St. John's harbour was the site of Viking landings, fierce battles between the English and the French armies, and the world's first transatlantic wireless transmission by Guglielmo Marconi.[4] Said to have received the first reported transatlantic wireless transmission and the waypoint for the first non-stop transatlantic flight carrying airmail. The logo is an ancient Norse symbol that represents early viking influences in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Celebrity[edit]

Dan Aykroyd, owner of Globefill Inc. produces both Crystal Head Vodka and Signal Hill Whisky notes.[5]

Tasting notes[edit]

Nose: Sweet honey and vanilla, jammy fruit and warm oak spice. Palate: Rich with a creamy mouthfeel, and sweet notes of raisins and plums and a drizzle of honey. Finish: Long and warming.[6][7]
