Simone ShadeReggae Henry born 10 June 1977, in Kingston Jamaica[2]. She is a female international model, singer-songwriter, and background actress whose career began in 2000 [3]. Known for being the international model ICON known as a “Digita" [4][5] [6] the spokesmodel and face of Cable&Wireless mobile brand [7]. and then went on to successfully launch a career in the Asian market as a female Jamaican Reggae artist.[8] [9]

Career[edit]

1999-2000: Big Ninja Bike

In 1999 Simone Henry took the name Shade or ShadeReggae. Her love for music was cultivated by he father who was also a Singer-Song writer in the well known band “Creation Stepper, Stormy night”[10] known for their unique style of Reggae in the early 1980s.

Her unique look and modeling performances brought her to the attention of record producers She recorded her first single "Big Ninja Bike" for producer Bunny "Striker" Lee[11], a Jamaican record producer and one of the major forces in the Jamaican music industry.

2000-2001:

In 2000 Shade landed the role of "Digita" , which was depicted as a blue-haired beauty from the future that brought new technology to Jamaica via Cable and Wireless Mobile. Simone "Digita" Henry became a household name & icon. She quickly became known as one of Jamaica’s top models, appearing in Local & International TV shows, Fashion Shows,  news papers, magazines, billboards, etc.  and live performances the well known Sashi Events, Caribbean Carnivals, TV and Radio Commercials, New Papers, Billboard adds as "Digita" for Cable&Wireless [12] acclaimed PEER Awards for her modeling and acting work as "Digita" in 2000 and 2001. The "Digita" campaign spear headed by Patrick Wademar of WaterWorks advertising agency in Kingston Jamaica was nominated and won ten (10) PEER Awards for Best TV and Radio Advertising of the year [13] Also in 2001 Shade took the Miss Jamaica Fashion Model competiton by storm, moving on to land modeling assignments in New York.

2002-2005:

In 2002 she officially migrated o the US where she began appearing in fashion shows throughout Florida, working with production house such as GreenTree Promotions, Barbra Barrett of Intrigue Styles in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Appearing as supporting background actress in the well-known movies "Bad Boys", "Fast and the furious", etc.

In 2008 ShadeReggae released her single "Hot Boys" [14]a collaboration with One Blood Junior Reid which made it to Jamaica, Miami Top40 Charts [15]. Delroy "Junior" Reid (born 6 June 1963) is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall musician, best known for his featuring on the songs "It's Okay (One Blood)" [16]and "This Is Why I'm Hot"[17], as well as being the lead vocalist for Black Uhuru [18]on three of their albums. The production of "Hot Boys" was completed in Miami Florida and engineered by producer Karl Pitterson,[19] Peterson also engineer another record title "Moving High" which was released in 2005. Karl Peterson is a Jamaican record producer and sound engineer who started his career in the early 1970s as house engineer with Jamaican studios such as Dynamics, Federal, Randy's, Studio One, Treasure Isle and Aquarius. Over the course of his 30 plus year career he has worked with the following artists among others: Bob Marley and The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Aswad, Big Youth, Dennis Alcapone, Pablo Moses, Mighty Diamonds, Sly & Robbie, Jacob Miller, Toots & the Maytals, Barrington Levy, Rico Rodriguez and Augustus Pablo. which was also engineer by Karl Peterson. ShadeReggae also collaborated with former lead singer of Inner Circle and Grammy winner Calton Coffie [20], on a record title "Bet you didn't know". Hot Boys and "I bet you didn't know" was released on Shade's album in 2011 in Okinawa Japan .

2009-2011:

In 2009 Shade began laying down tracks recording her album "Life in the Shade" The self titled album features top names in the music industry, such as Junior Reid [1], Macka Diamond, Calton Coffie , Lady G , U-Duo & Platy. In 2010 ShadeReggae released "Strong Woman" backed by local Japanese Pop/Reggae singer Momo[21]. By 2010-2-11 ShadeReggae was headlining a number of shows throughout Japan [22] [23]. between 2010 - 2011[24] [25]. Fans rocked to her energetic performance at the well FOX Summer Beach Party [26], hosted in Okinawa Japan for FOX international TV Japan [27]. ShadeReggae was also perform for the Military soldiers and their families on Torii Station February 7th during the Army bases Superbowl festivities [28]. ShadeReggae is the first female Jamaican Reggae artist to produce a Reggae event and to perform on Torii Station Military installation on [29]

In 2011 ShadeReggae became the spokes model for LL Bean's tote bag [30] [31]. ShadeRegga was featured in a two (2) page advertising spread representing LL Bean's line of tote bag in MONO magazines [32] in 2011, which circulates worldwide [33].

2016-Current:

ShadeReggae's band The Lost Keys [34] was formed in 2016 and is comprised of Bass guitar section, Rhythm Guitar, Drums, Keys, Percussion, and Lead Guitar, with ShadeReggae as the Lead vocalist. The Lost Keys band was formed to realize Shade’s ambition to maintain her unique sound, a sound that was cultivated alongside her father, former singer in the "Creation Stepper" [35]originally band from Jamaica.

In 2017 ShadeReggae has been performing in Reggae shows throughout the USA [1]

Style[edit]

ShadeReggae synthesis of traditional Reggae, a Trenchtown Rock style mixed with jazz, blues and some elements of dancehall create an exciting modern reggae fusion style.[2]
