Sivagami Vinayagan is a stage and TV presenter currently based in London, UK. She received Favourite Tamil TV Presenter in Europe during the Saathanai Tamizhaa Award Ceremony in London in 2014. The award ceremony is to honour Tamil artists and their products as well as Tamil radio and TV presenters throughout Europe.

Family[edit]

Sivagami was born as Sivagami Nadarajan to Nadarajan Kuppusamy, and Sucheela Sinakulandai. Sivagami is the eldest child in her family. She has a sister and a brother. She was born in Kluang, Johor, Malaysia. She pursued her degree in BSc (Hons) in Statistics at the National University of Malaysia (University Kebangsaan Malaysia). Sivagami married Vinayagan in 2004. Vinayagan was her senior at the National University of Malaysia where he was doing his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He pursued his Masters in the UK and working as a Senior System Analyst in a multinational company in London.

Education and Career[edit]

She was actively involved in elocution competitions, debates and public speaking while she was in primary school. She started her career as a professional stage presenter in 1994 when she was spotted hosting at her school event at Kluang High School in the same year. She started emceeing stage shows ever since. While pursuing her degree in Statistics, she groomed her talent into the art of presenting mainly on stage. She hosted the Students Deepavali Night known as MJMD (Majlis Jamuan Makan Deepavali) for three consecutive years. She made her debut as a TV host for a large Malaysian-Indian show called Vanavil Paadal Thiran Potti (Singing competition amongst Malaysian Indians) at ASTRO Vanavil. Astro Vanavil is Malaysia's first 24-hour Tamil language television channel broadcasting on the Astro satellite television service.

She moved to London in 2004 to join her husband, Vinayagan who was working in London. With enormous experience being a stage presenter and a TV host in Malaysia, she joined a local TV station in the UK called Vectone Tamil TV. Vectone Tamil TV was telecasting programmes throughout UK, Middle East and Australia. Sivagami hosted many live TV shows and made good connections with her huge fan base through live programmes. She was very popular among the Indian and Sri Lankan community throughout Europe, Middle East and Australia. In 2005, she accepted an offer to joined Deepam TV, a well-known Tamil television channel in Europe. She established her career conducting exclusive interviews with celebrity Indian artist from India and all over the world. She conducted an exclusive interview with AR Rahman, a prestigious music director who had won Oscar awards for his music composition in Slumdog Millionaire.

She was headhunted by IBC Tamil, which was launched in April 2015. She is now hosting game shows and interviews at IBC Tamil TV.

In the UK, Sivagami is also well known as the face of Malaysia in the Merdeka Carnival hosted by the High Commission of Malaysia at Buckinghamshire every year since 2009. In 2011, the Carnival was graced by the King and Queen of Malaysia. She has anchored numerous events honoured by the Prime Minister and other Ministers of Malaysia held in London. In 2012, she hosted an event at the London O2 Arena where the Prime Minister of Malaysia was the guest of honour. She has been the anchoring one of the prestigious Malaysian events in London called the Malaysia Night Event at Trafalgar Square since 2013. Malaysia Night which was later rebranded as Malaysia Fest in 2016 is an annual event hosted by the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) showcasing the Malaysian food and culture. The yearly event is being graced by the Mayor of London office and other local and Malaysian dignitaries. More than 60,000 people all over UK and other countries participate in the event. Sivagami also emceed an exclusive official event hosted by the King and Queen of Malaysia in 2014 at the High Commission of Malaysia in London. She also hosts many events for the Asian Catering Federation promoting the Asian cuisine in the UK.

Philanthropy[edit]

Sivagami has been hosting many charity fundraisers in London. She has been a strong supporter and hosted many charity events organised by the World Shirdi Sai Baba Organisation (UK) in East Ham London. She has also been hosting charity events hosted by the Chinese Information and Advice Centre in London. In 2014, she hosted an event at the Houses of Parliament at Westminster, which is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords in the UK. She was invited to emcee the Cities of London and Westminster Conservative Association Gala Christmas Fundraising Dinner in December 2014 at the Hippodrome‏.

Sivagami was awarded as the favourite Tamil TV presenter in Europe in 2014 in Saathanai Tamizhaa award ceremony which recognises Tamil artists and TV celebrities in Europe. Currently she works for the High Commission of Malaysia in London and also hosting exclusive programmes at IBC Tamil TV watched by viewers all over Europe, Middle East and Canada.
