Pauline Skött (born 4 October 1991), is a Swedish singer and songwriter professionally known as Skott.

Skott started as a songwriter for Sony ATV but soon realized that she wanted to perform her music herself. She signed to British Chess Club Records, and in 2016, her first four releases each reached number one globally on Hypemachine. Later on, she got signed to Sony Music UK Entertainment Limited, and in 2019 she started her own independent label named Dollar Menu.[1] [2]

Katy Perry and Lorde are among fans who have reached out to her personally on Twitter about her songs “Wolf” and ”Porcelain”.[1]

Early life[edit]

Skott grew up in Vikarbyn, Sweden, a village known for its traditional habits and own language, where folk music was the main style of local musicians. She learned to play the violin at an early age with the help of other fiddlers in the community.

Skott was introduced to contemporary music in her teenage years, when she discovered Muse and got inspired by their music. She enjoyed playing video games such as Final Fantasy and Zelda, which led her to the world of composing video game music. The style of her debut in 2016 can be described as left-field cinematic pop.[1]

Skott has been touring with Phantogram as an opening act in 2017, and as the supporting act for MØ in 2018.[3]

Some of her performances include BBC Maida Vale in 2016 and the SXSW Sony PlayStation showcase in 2017,[4] and she had an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Beats 1 premiere in 2016.[5] Skott was on BBC1 Radio as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in The World in 2016, and was also premiered on BBC1 by MistaJam in 2017.[6]

At the request of Michael Michalsky, she performed at Berlin Fashion week in 2018, and in the same year won the European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA),[7] which has been previously won by artists such as Adele, MØ, Lykke Li, and Dua Lipa. Skott toured North America and Europe in 2017, the UK in 2018, and is currently working on her debut album.[8]
