From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

SkwierczPomeranian family primarily known as major landowners at the site of the current city of Gdynia, Poland.

Family history[edit]

For ages, the Skwiercz family inhabited areas north of Gdańsk (German: Danzig). One of their key possessions turned out to be a belt of fields along the coast of the (Gdańsk Bay|Bay of Gdańsk), in what is now the downtown area of the city of Gdynia. When, upon there construction of a nearby port, the village of Gdynia rapidly transformed into one of Poland's main cities, the Skwiercz family found itself in possession of a significant fortune. Together with the three other families of the Four Big Families of Gdynia (the others being the families of Górski, Tutkowski, and Grubba) they became the first builders of the new city. The Skwiercz family still owns major properties in key locations in downtown Gdynia, e.g. Skwer Kosciuszki 15 and Starowiejska 37.[1][2]
