The SoWa Artists Guild, founded by Stephen Silver in 2005[1], who currently runs the guild along with Debby Krim, is the flagship community of the SoWa Art + Design District of Boston.[2][3] The organization supports over 90 artist members with studios at 450 Harrison Avenue, in Boston’s South End.[4]

The SoWa Artist Guild members create works in a variety of mediums, including painting, encaustic, fiber arts, jewelry, photography, and sculpture.[5]

Exhibitions[edit]

Many art studios are open to the public during regular business hours in addition to opening for larger monthly and annual events.[6]

Monthly Events[edit]

SoWa Artists Guild members host open studios on the first Fridays and second Sundays of every month. In the summer (May 1 – Oct 30), many artists open every Sunday during the SoWa Open Market (an open market including a farmers market, food trucks, and art).[7][8] The public visits the studios and meets the artists.[9]

Annual Events[edit]

Each year, the guild participates in three major open studio events. The spring event, SoWa Art Walk, is held in May, WinterFest is in December, and South End Open Studios is held in the fall.
