Soap Opera (band)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Soap Opera were an alternative rock band from Toronto. They were formed in 1999 by guitarist Manfred Sittmann and bassist Michael MacMillan. The lineup was completed by drummer Stacey Washington and guitarist Dave Moss. They were signed to Bullseye Records[1] and released two full-length albums for the label, their debut Poised[2] in 1999.[3] and their follow up Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome To The Tangiers.[4][5] One review described the band's vocal sound and melodic guitars as "a hint of Replacements in the guitars and the grain of Manfred Sittman's voice".

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome To The Tangiers was produced by Terry Brown[6], a notable British music producer known for working with such acts as Rush and Blue Rodeo, at Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec. The record drew comparisons to alternative rock bands like Soul Asylum and Superchunk.[7]

Following the breakup of Soap Opera in 2004[8], members went on to play in other bands such as The First Time[9] and Elephants and Stars[10].
