Sorana Santos
Sorana Santos is a British composer, performer, and writer, and is a graduate of The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.[1]
She was Florence Welch's replacement in the band Ashok,[2][3] and has written music for The Rose (theatre).[4] Her first full-length album, Our Lady of Stars, featuring drummer James Madden and The Ligeti Quartet was released on her own label I Dream in Sound[5][6] and was nominated for a for a British Composer Award.[7][8][9] That same year, she recreated the 4200-mile road trip that inspired Joni Mitchell's Hejira.[10]
Sorana was a writer at Lazy Gramophone Press[11] and has also been an essayist, journalist, and poet at Agenda Poetry Journal[12]The Guardian,[13] and London Jazz News.[14][15]
She is credited as being the mentor of four-time MOBO-winner Shakka[16] and Nilufer Yanya.[17][18][19]
