Steeve Austin[edit]

Steeve Vanden Heede[1] (born October 21, 1976), also known as Steeve Austin[2], is a Belgian choreographer and artistic director. Born in Charleroi, Belgium, Steeve is the original founder of the German company Raised by the Beat which was recently launched in February 1, 2018. The company has launched the Urban dance teacher academy and the Dance Radar application.

Early Life[edit]

Steeve Austin was born and raised in Charleroi, Brussels. Austin attended a Jesuit boarding school from the age of eleven to the age of eighteen. Dance was not presented in the school nor was it taught which meant that Austin and his three other friends with the same passion for dance would practice dance any time they were not in school.

Austin had no in-person influencers for his parents were never dancers. He is an autodidact and learned dance through watching videos on television and practicing in metro stations. Steeve's biggest influence was Michael Jackson, which is the case for most dancers of his generation, At around the age of eleven, Austin's step father came into the picture. Austin does not know his biological father, but his step dad recognized him as his kid which is the reason Steeve carries the Vanden Heede name.

Michael Jackson was Austin's biggest inspiration and influencer. The first dance move that Austin had ever learned was Michael Jackson's famous moon walk. Since then, his love of dance bloomed and he began to take on any opportunity for dance he could find. Austin did not take any particular dance classes growing up until he reached the age of seventeen. The way he kept up dance from the age of eleven was by dancing on subways and in the streets [3]with other kids.
