Stewart Lawrence Skloss (born June 29, 1965) is an American businessman. Currently he serves as the Founder and Chairman of Pura Vida Spirits Company, LLC.[1] The company owns various Mexican spirits, including Naranja Orange Liqueur and Pura Vida Tequila.[2]

Early life[edit]

Skloss is the son of Margie Hoke Stewart Alford and Lawrence Vincent Skloss.[3]

Skloss attended the University of Texas at Austin[4], and after signing up for an exchange program, he enrolled at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) in Jalisco, Mexico.[5] What started as a single semester abroad eventually turned into two years.[5]

Professional career[edit]

Early years[edit]

Skloss first worked at the Hearst Corporation, where he worked as a Special Projects Executive.[6] For this position, he was based in New York, London, and San Antonio.[6]

He then joined United Systems Integrators Corp. (USI) and served as Director of Corporate Services and then Vice-President and Global New Business Development (NBD) Director.[6][7]

Next, Skloss was a Vice-Chairman of IDRESCO,[6] as well as Chairman at the NOPAL Group.[8][9] The company, founded in 2006, recovers, remediates, and reuses hydrocarbons found in drilling muds, drill cuttings, and polluted soils that result from oil or gas exploration or production operations, as well as hydrocarbon-based spills.[10]

Pura Vida Spirits Company, LLC[edit]

Skloss founded Pura Vida Tequila Company, LLC, in October 2009.[5] Known today as Pura Vida Spirits Company, LLC, the company produces and owns multiple Mexican spirits, including Mexican orange liqueur and tequila.[5] Skloss currently serves as Chairman and Founder of the organization.[1]

One of the company’s initial investors and backers was Billy Gibbons (of ZZ Top).[11]

Personal life[edit]

On November 11, 2017, Skloss married Kaitlyn Callaluca Skloss in Houston, Texas.[12] Kaitlyn Callaluca Skloss currently serves as the Chief Marketing Officer of Pura Vida Spirits Company, LLC, and she is the Chair of the Skloss Foundation.[13]
