Stone Globe Light

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Stone Globe Light is an outdoor light that resembles a stone ball by day, and lights up at night. The name derives from the stone-like appearance and quality of the product, globe being the shape, and light being the light source.[1] Consisting of two products created by British designer Joanna Wallis, the original being in 2007, is known as the Finial Globe Light[2]. It is based on the early stone ball and finial, as seen on top of pier caps and entrance gateposts in the 18th and 19th centuries. Using fibreglass and resin to resemble stone, the Finial Globe Light doubles as a feature by day that lights up at night[1]. Hand-crafted in the UK, it has a painted finish which is customised to tone with the colour of the surrounding stone or brickwork. 520mm in height, the sphere of 330mm diameter has a square plinth measuring 360mm, forming one complete unit[1].

The second of the two products comprising the Stone Globe Lights, and designed in 2012, is the Spherical Globe Light. Made of polyethylene with a rough surface, the 280mm Globe Light weighs 1kg, the 380mm light weighs 1.75kg, and the 500mm light weighs 2.25kg[3]. The Spherical Globe Light can be used either at ground level, on top of walls and gateposts or hung pendant fashion. Protection: 1P65, CE mark, Design Registered.
