Stony Hollow is an American short subject horror film, released in 2021. It was directed and written by Seth Alan Jacobs, who also starred in it. The film is based off of the urban legend known as Stony Hollow Road, which is considered one of the most haunted attractions in the state of Iowa.[1]

Director Seth Alan Jacobs was inspired to create the film because he wanted to make something that locals would be able to relate to and the idea of implementing urban legend or paranormal into horror adaptations is something he finds fascinating.[2] He also made it clear that the film was in fact filmed on the actual Stony Hollow Road location in Burlington, Iowa.

Plot[edit]

When two friends Joel and Cody (portrayed by Seth Alan Jacobs and Reace Thorne) decide to investigate haunted Stony Hollow Road in hopes of unraveling the urban legend Lucinda (Kaela Clark), they find themselves captive in the inescapable curse of 24 hours to live.

Reception[edit]

According to a Facebook post made by Seth Alan Jacobs in a local Burlington, Iowa, group, the original draft was posted and received overwhelming feedback, hitting over 2,000 views in one day and over 200 shares.[3]

Stony Hollow was also selected and shown at Halloweenapalooza, Iowa's only horror film festival; alongside another film made by Seth Alan Jacobs called The Woods Gather, which premiered for the first time, on October 8 and 9, 2021.[4]

The film also currently holds a positive IMDb rating of 8.8/10.[5]
