Streetbees
Streetbees is a UK-based technology company that reveals how people think and behave by crowdsourcing real-time data from people around the world.[1]
It gathers opinions, photos and videos from its user base of over 1.7 million people, based in 150 countries worldwide.[2][3][4]
Research is conducted using via the Streetbees smartphone app and users are paid the equivalent of their local living wage for their time.[5]
Streetbees then uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to convert the data into insights for some of the world's largest companies, including Unilever, Nestlé, PepsiCo, and the BBC.[6][7][8][9][10]
Its approach was recognised by the Market Research Society as the industry's Best Innovation of 2018.[11]
History[edit]
Established by founders Tugce Bulut[12] and Oliver May in 2015, the company is backed by investors including LocalGlobe, BGF Ventures and Octopus Ventures.[13][14]
In March 2018, Streetbees raised $12 million in Series A funding from investors led by venture capital fund Atomico.[15][16][17]
The company, which now employs around 100 people, is based in offices in London.[18] It has expanded in the US and has a location in Lisbon.[19]
Streetbees has been named as a company to watch by CB Insights, Tech Radar and the Disrupt 100[20][21][22], while Grant Thornton has named founder Tugce Bulut as one of its faces of a vibrant economy.[23] In August 2018, Wired named the company in its list of Europe's 100 Hottest Startups.[24]. It has also been recognised as one of the UK's fastest growing companies.[25]
