Sudi Vaish
Sudi Vaishya is a Trading community (Baniya community) based largely in Bihar and Jharkhand. Traditionally, They are engaged Mainly in Money lending (Shahukari) and Agri-business (Agriculture-related business like buying and selling of all agricultural produce, locally called Galla ka Kaam ) and Wholesaling and retailing of all type of FMCG (Fast moving consumer products ), clothes, Medicines etc.
Some are small and big land-holders also, engaged in self and Contract farming. But Most of the populations are based in the semi-urban and urban part of the state. In Bihar, they belong to OBCs (Entry No 83 of OBCs List of State Bihar). Among the OBCs communities, they are most educated and progressive people, and they hold good posts in the Government jobs also.
Historical origin:
Anciently, They belong to Kashyap Muni, as some of his sons from his 13 (Thirteen) wives, opted for trading occupation instead of searching for inner-self (Atma gnaan) in a forest. At that time, Searching or attaining self-knowledge (Atma jnaan) was supreme in the society. Their Gotra is Kashyap.
