Introduction

Sumeet Kant Kaul is an Indian film and television actor, theatre artist, singer, and poet.

Hailing from a lineage of cinematic talent, Sumeet is the maternal great grandson of acclaimed film director, writer and actor Yeshwant Pethkar.[1]. A stalwart of the Prabhat talkies, Pethkar began making movies in 1947. His company Yashwant Pethkar Production Pictures created Hindi and Marathi films, including 'Aage Badho'[2], giving Dev Anand[3] his break into the industry; 'Apradhi'[4] with Madhubala[5]; 'Shadi Ki Raat[6]' with Geeta Bali[7]; and Jeevan starrer 'Jai Radhe Krishna'[8]; as well as Marathi movies 'Sant Namdeo'[9], 'Majha Mulga'[10], 'Kon Kunacha'[11], and many more.

A natural-born performer, Sumeet's acting prowess lies in his gift to deeply observe and express the profound, intrinsic complexity of human nature. Set to make his major debut in August 2018, Sumeet will play the lead role of Bali, a child trafficking don in upcoming social crime drama 'Pakhi'[12] - a film based on real-life stories of victims of child trafficking by ace producer and director Sachin Gupta[13] of 'Paranthe Wali Gali'[14] fame.

Acting and Theatre

Not a stranger to screen and stage, Sumeet previously starred in the romantic short film ‘Pihu’ with Sanaya Irani that released in June 2018. He was an assistant director in a film and was also seen playing and a quirky band owner in 2015 Bollywood comedy 'Thoda Lutf Thoda Ishq'[15], and his co-stars were National award fame Sanjay Mishra[16], Rajpal Yadav[17] and Television Heart Throb Hiten Tejwani[18] as well as a lawyer in Hot star's crime fiction series 'Savdhaan India'[19].

Kaul has been recognized and praised for his creative muscle and ability to deliver authentic expression regardless of project, genre or scene. He is a master at playing characters that are a dramatic departure from his own calm charisma and has starred in numerous theatre productions. His versatility and agility have also seen him effortlessly make the transition from playing the role of Bernard in comedy play 'Don’t dress for dinner'[20] to the careless Madhav in Munshi Premchand's 'Kafan'. He equally excelled in the role of Mausum, a mental character, in the thriller 'Wake Up Call', as well as a 60-year-old father in Arthur Miller play 'All my sons'[21]

Life and family

Kaul was born on 18 May in a Kashmiri Brahmin family in New Delhi to Mrs Neeta and Sumant Kaul. The film is produced by Sachin Gupta[24] under the banner of Chilsag Entertainment Network[25]. The film is scheduled for release on 6 November 2018. The film is based on the true events happened with Nepal Earth Quake Victims.
