Dr. Syed Bahauddin Alam (born 5 August 1987) is a Bangladeshi Nuclear Scientist, currently working in French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission,France.[1]. He is a nuclear engineer and researcher on nuclear reactor physics. He is well known for computational reactor physics and nuclear engineering. [2]

Early life and background[edit | edit source]

Dr. Syed Bahauddin was born in Chittagong on 5 August, 1987. His father, Syed Moinuddin Alam, is a well-known businessman and freedom fighter from Chittagong and his mother, Rina Jahan, is a house wife. His family is originated from Chittagong.

Education[edit | edit source]

Dr. Syed Bahauddin completed his SSC in 2003 and HSC in 2005 from Faujdarhat Cadet College. He started his undergraduate journey in 2006 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in Electrical and Electronics engineering (Major in Computer Engineering).[3] [4]. After completing his undergraduate in 2011, he went for pursuing MPhil in Nuclear Energy to the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. He completed his Mphil in 2013 and started his PhD in Nuclear Engineering University of Cambridge. He completed his PhD in January, 2018. During educational career, Dr. Syed Bahauddin received many prestigious awards from different organizations and countries for his extraordinary scientific achievements. [5]

Work Places[edit | edit source]

During Masters study at University of Cambridge, Dr. Syed Bahaudddin worked as a Researcher in Imperial College London from May 2013 to August 2013. He also worked as a Visiting Scholar in Dynamic Photomechanics Laboratory (DPML), University of Rhode Island and Brown University, USA as a Visiting Scholar in April, 2016 in Advanced Ceramics and Nanomaterials Laboratory. He worked as a Research fellow in University of California, Berkeley, USA. He worked as a Nuclear Nonproliferation Summer Fellow at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He joined Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center, USA as a Visiting Scientist in April 2016. From September 2017 to March 2018, He worked in Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) as a Research Fellow on Reactor Physics. Finally He Joined French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, (CEA) France in January 2018 as a Research Scientist.[6] [7] He is actively running a campaign through his Facebook community page Nuclear School to create a public awareness to Bangladeshi students and people to understand the importance of Nuclear Energy. He also conducts courses and classes on Nuclear Engineering and Physics in collaboration with The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, University of Cambridge, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and some other institutions.
