Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists is an orthopedics medical practice with offices across the Syracuse, New York area. Established in 1999, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) was recognized by the Central New York Business Journal on its “Best Places to Work” list in 2016.

History[edit]

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) is a privately owned company founded in 1999 by the merger of two orthopedic medical practices from the Syracuse, New York region. That same year, SOS opened 3 medical offices and added 9 doctors on staff. By 2017, SOS expanded to 10 medical offices, 29 doctors on staff[1], as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physical therapists and athletic trainers.

Expansion[edit]

In 2011, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists opened SOS PLUS offices in the Dewitt and Liverpool suburbs of Syracuse. SOS PLUS is a walk-in orthopedic clinic for immediate care of acute orthopedic injuries.

In 2013, the SOS SHOP was opened on location at the East Taft Road SOS medical office in North Syracuse, New York. The SOS SHOP is a retail location that offers products recommended by SOS physicians to promote patient recovery and health. The SOS SHOP inventory includes footwear and wound care products, as well as products that are intended to aid patient recovery, such as compression sleeves and braces, casts, braces and supports.

The Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists staff includes multiple orthopedic specialists and orthopedic surgeons. This includes:

Additionally, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists provides orthopedic surgery. SOS specializes in various orthopedic surgery procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to:

In popular culture[edit]

Syracuse University men’s basketball head coach Jim Boeheim has appeared in Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists media advertisements, including television commercials and online video advertisements. Other Syracuse University athletics coaches have also appeared in Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists advertising, including Syracuse University football head coach Dino Babers and Syracuse University men’s lacrosse head coach John Desko.
