TAS 1000 is an experimental collective of friends Cass Picken, Scott Howard, Matt Krysko, and John Rogers from Vancouver and Victoria of British Columbia, Canada[4] in 2002, better known for their debut and sole studio album, A Message for Marta. The album got conceived after a thrift store purchase of a Sanyo Telephone Answering System 100, hence the band's moniker. When they discovered the previous owner's tape, they immediately thought of their musical potential of it.[5] They disbanded in 2005 with inside jokes that they died cause they "ran out of source material." The album's track, "I've Been Delayed," was used ambiently in Club Penguin's predecessor Penguin Chat.[6] The band nowadays has a small but loyal cult following.
